Copper Mesa Mining Corporation is a Canadian mineral exploration and development company committed to increasing shareholder value by expanding its resource base through advancing its near-term properties, further exploration at its current properties, forming exploration alliances with other mining companies and pursuing opportunities for the acquisition of additional properties of merit throughout the Americas.
In March 2008 we completed the acquisition of all of the common shares of St. Geneviève Resources Ltd. and its U.S. properties - the historical past producing Zonia and Emerald Isle copper mines in Arizona and the Malachite and Satellite exploration prospects in Nevada, thus broadening the Company’s horizons by diversification into another country.
A pre-feasibility study, targeted for completion during the first half of 2009, is in progress on the Zonia Mine copper project. We expect to have all permit applications submitted for construction of an open pit mine and a solvent extraction/electrowinning (“SXEW”) processing complex, averaging 20 million pounds of copper per year, by the end of the second quarter of 2009. A National Instrument 43-101 (NI 43-101) compliant report estimates that Zonia contains inferred resources of 63 million tons averaging 0.37% TCu (total copper) at a cut-off grade of 0.25% (460 million pounds of copper)
At the Emerald Isle Mine copper project, we intend to perform a detailed evaluation of the economics of returning the Emerald Isle Mine to production. A NI 43-101 compliant report estimates that the property contains indicated resources of 2.22 million tons grading 0.625% TCu (total copper) at a cut-off grade of 0.03% TCu and 10 ft. minimum vertical thickness (27.5 million pounds of copper). It is projected that the Emerald Isle property could be returned to production status within 12 months, pending financing, at an estimated capital expenditure of US$4 - 6 million.
